In December 2017, we implemented a Smart Water Network in Adelaide CBD. We installed flow pressure and acoustic leakage sensors that provided near real-time information about what is occurring in the water network. This information helped us to detect and prioritise crews to fix faults, such as leaks, before they escalate and cause public disruption.
The Smart Water Network is now expanding across metro and regional South Australia. This expansion will include smart wastewater technology installations, to improve the water networks in each selected location.
The smart technology we have installed in the Adelaide CBD has enabled us to identify and proactively fix leaks before they impact customers. Our new insights into the network have seen us repair faults while the city sleeps and reduce water service interruptions and commuter delays.
Our smart water network is expanding. We are leading the way with the implementation of smart technology throughout South Australia. This technology is tailored to the specific needs of the selected locations to improve the water network within these areas and the experience for our customers.
North Adelaide, Athelstone, Port Lincoln and Penneshaw have been selected as part of the Smart Water Network expansion. Stonyfell and Gawler have been selected as part of the Smart Wastewater Network rollout.
To enable the expansion of the smart network SA Water will be undertaking a number of installations within each location over the next few months.
Installations are to commence from October 2018 and are anticipated to be completed by January 2019.
Installation infrastructure can include flow meters, pressure reducing valves, acoustic loggers, and H2S sensors.
SA Water will engage with the local community to keep them informed of the project’s progress during the installation process.
In the meantime if you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the SA Water's Project Team on 1800 812 362 or email email@example.com.
